ABOUT THE MISSOURI USGenWeb PROJECT (9/7/98 update)

In March, 2008, several Missouri counties in the MOGenWeb project moved to www.MoGenweb.org from the previous server space on Rootsweb.

In March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy Database Project. Their idea to provide a single entry point for each KY county was not a new one. Kansas, for example, had started a similar volunteer project in July 1994 called Kansas Heritage for genealogy and history of Kansas.

But the KCGDP expanded from a Kentucky county focus, to a worldwide focus, to find volunteers for every county in each state and for all countries on Earth. These volunteers in turn are looking for others to contribute names, book look-ups, queries, and possibly tips and URLs to other web sites about genealogy in their counties.
